Curriculum Corner
Here is what we are learning about in class. Ask your child about what they learning.
Math: We are continuing our work in 2 digit subtraction problems. Science: We will be continuing science after our social studies unit.
Social Studies: Students will learn citizens have responsibilities in our community, such as voting and obeying laws. Also, students will learn about the importance of our flag as a symbol of our country, what patriotism means , and the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance.
Writing: Students choosing a topic that they are an expert at and creating nonfiction texts. We will be creating texts that have nonfiction text features such as a table of contents, headings, pictures with captions and labels, and a glossary.
Reading: Students are learning how various text features help us understand our topic better. Second graders will be learning how to use a pronunciation guide and how to break words apart to read tricky nonfiction words.
